I have recently started crocheting hats. I got started on my first one this past month when my sister-in-law started chemo and radiation treatments to treat her stage 4 cancer. She requested that anyone who can make them, make a hat with braids so she would feel like she still had long hair. So, I found a pattern and went with it. I have now completed 2 "wigs" and 1 regular hat. I realized that I can whip them out in NO time and still interact with my family while doing it. I started thinking...side job opportunity?? I'll post some pics, feel free to leave your input, with price ideas as well.

I've always made my kid's birthday cakes. From Kaehlen's first birthday on. I have a Winnie the Pooh cake pan I've used for all of my kids first birthdays. Along with it I fix a "personal" size pooh cake. That way they have their own to devour! While this one is not my "favorite" as far as overall look goes, I love the idea and hopefully will do a better job on it next time. My head is going crazy with cake ideas this year. I can't wait to get started on Kaehlen's. But, since it's not till Nov I guess I'll have to wait to get it going. lol

Well, it's getting to that time of year again...time to start thinking about Christmas. In our house it is extra busy due to 2 b-days before Christmas and 1 a month after. One thing I like to do to cut down on costs (extended family wise) is to make gifts. Last year I made bath salts. They were super easy and loads of fun to make. It takes some experimenting to get it right...but that just means I get to enjoy a bath while "testing" the product. I have so many ideas going through my head this year. Thankfully I pretty much have gifts figured out and most of them will be bought this year. But it doesn't keep my wheels from turning. I love doing crafty things! I just wish I had more reasons and time to do them. Whether it's baby blankets, bath salts, soap petals...the list goes on, I enjoy doing them.

I have contemplated making and selling what I call baby rag quilts. They are so nice, soft, durable. My kids love theirs and I have made and given them to several people as a baby shower gift. I have NO clue how much to ask for anything like it. But, here are some pics to show you what I'm talking about. Any input is appreciated.

We decided to give Reuben his Father's Day gift early. It is a tie that I made and then put a picture of the kids on. We thought it would be nice for him to have to wear in the morning. Here is a picture of it. It was a bit hard to get all 3 kids to cooperate for a picture. I tried at least 3 different times and this was the best I could get. I love how Kaehlen is showing love to both of them. In the end, it was a great project!

This is the book cover Reuben created for a book entitled "The Master's Wall" by Sandi Rog. It was a long process of continuous changes, but it was fun and it hopefully will catch the eye of many and be a big seller. It's amazing to me how much joy I get out of making these pieces of art. The book is set to release Nov 1.
